About Caroline Lisa

Caroline writes both fiction and non-fiction, always with the passion to help start conversations around challenging topics to make a difference.

Her debut novel, SONG OF THE CROCODILE is a powerful and compelling novel  exploring the cultural complexities of growing up in a community where a traditional, often secretive practice has shaped the lives of over 200 million women and girls alive today.

In her day job, Caroline works managing a service for a local authority in London for vulnerable young people. She was motivated to write around her full time job (often into the early hours of the morning),  as she knew SONG OF THE CROCODILE was a story that needed to be told. She was overwhelmed by the support and excitement her debut novel generated gaining several offers of representation from literary agents both in the UK and the US.

Since 2016 Caroline has also developed training for professionals and her workbook, 'Talking About Female Genital Mutilation', was published globally by Routledge in hardback and paperback in 2023.

Caroline sees herself as more of a natural introvert but is passionate to help people have a voice against injustice - whether for others, or for themselves.
